Quiet Hours

2025 · Maintained

Quiet Hours is a timer. You choose a length, you name the thing you are about to do, and it counts down. When it finishes it says so once and then it forgets everything.

The forgetting is the feature

Every focus app I had used eventually became a second job: a record to maintain, a streak to protect, a chart that made a bad week feel like a bad person. The moment the tool starts keeping score, the score becomes the thing you are optimising, and I did not want to optimise the score.

So there is no history. There is no export. There is no account. If you want to know how many hours you worked this week, you will have to remember, which is roughly the accuracy the question deserves.

What surprised me

The most requested feature, by a wide margin, is history. I have not built it and I do not intend to, and about a third of the people who ask write back a month later to say they understand. The other two thirds use something else, which is the correct outcome for both of us.
